The Reunion

2027 marks 40 years since the resumption of mining in Waihi. With the mine still in operation today, long after its initially scheduled life, this is strong testament to both the abundance of mineralisation in the Waihi field, and the tenacity and professionalism of those who explored, developed, and mined these resources. We think this is cause for celebration.

April 2nd & 3rd

Join us on the 2nd and 3rd of April 2027 in Waihi to celebrate the people who kickstarted the modern mine, spin a few yarns, reflect on past achievements and reconnect with your peers.

To make the reunion manageable in terms of logistics and venue capacity, invitations will be limited to employees and contractors who worked at the mine from the 1980's through to June 1992, when the Normandy takeover was closed.

This event is being run by a small team of ex-employees who are volunteering their time on behalf of their former colleagues. If you have any ideas or would like to help out, please get in touch:

We encourage you to share any photos and/or stories from during this time.

Please email them to waihigoldreunion@gmail.com or use the button below, and let us know if you are comfortable with these being shared.
